Arete is the Ancient Greek word/philosophy which describes ourselves and the small family producers we partner with for honey, sea salt, spices, wine and more. It means "the pursuit of excellence and highest realization of someone or something's potential." Our 1,000 year old tree emblazoned on our label (harvested annually) embodies the true meaning of Arete and the Greek Spirit of our family and producers.

The tree has been through the harshest of times and the best
of times, but has always proudly endured to produce the highest quality oil. To sit under it with a glass of wine is heaven!

Whether it be the extremely rare Elato Vanilla Honey from Dimitrios and Maria Panopoulos and the Safronas Family, or our friend Stavros' Hand Harvested Sea Salt, the passion for excellence has nothing to do with business pursuits. Special people with special products all of the highest quality possible for your health. Not only our partners; they are our friends and family. Like most small artisanal family producers in Greece they have always lacked the ability to share in the real value of their products. Forced to sell it off to bigger entities for a fraction of what it is then resold. No longer! They share in equally in every sale!
